Sponsor a Bank of Esperanza
Invest in the lives of families living in poverty and walk alongside them as they build a business, repay their loan and work their way toward a better future!
Esperanza's Bank of Esperanza Sponsorship Program is an innovative way for sponsors to directly finance a specific group of associates in the Dominican Republic and stay connected throughout the development process.
What is a Bank of Esperanza?
A Bank of Esperanza is a close community of associates who have gone through Esperanza's business training and preparation program together who are responsible to each other during the loan repayment process.
Each bank consists of 3-5 solidarity groups, containing five members each. The Bank of Esperanza meets every two weeks in their own communities with their loan officer to repay a portion of their loan, receive additional business training, share in a Devotional time with a local pastor, and offer support and advice to one another.
This model creates responsibility not only to Esperanza, but to the other community members because if one individual defaults on a payment, other bank members are responsible for paying the individual’s loan quota. There is no financial guarantee on the loan: the only guarantee is the group members themselves and the solidarity and accountability of the bank.

How does the sponsorship program work?
Individuals are now able to invest in a group within a Bank of Esperanza by donating anywhere from $25 to $2000, depending on the loan capital needed by the specific group. You can choose from a variety of different groups of associates at a time to sponsor on the home page of the website.
Once you sponsor a group, you will receive a login and password to our Sponsor's Portal (accessible in the Members Sign-In tab on the right hand side of this website). Here, you will be able to access all of your account information, view the associates’ loan portfolios, read details about each associate that you have sponsored, and walk alongside them as their loans are repaid and they build their businesses and their futures. Once the loans have been repaid, you can continue to invest in more groups.
