Volunteer

Our Interns have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects that enable them to gain firsthand experience in microfinance and development in the Dominican Republic. All volunteers will have the blessing of witnessing how people’s lives are changed through our programs and experience the joy of knowing that you were part of that transformation.

  • Resident Internships (4-6 months)
  • Summer Fellowships (8 weeks)

Resident Internship Opportunities

Interns have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in microfinance and development by contributing to a variety of projects.

Examples of Projects:

  • Microfinance research projects
  • Assisting the Communications and Resources Team with trips and special projects
  • Blogging, reporting, and posting on various Social Media sites

Skill sets preferred but not required: Haitian Creole, graphic design, social marketing, web design, or finance.

Requirements: Must be at least a rising college Junior, in good physical health, evidence of superior oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish, support Esperanza’s mission and corporate identity,and able to make a 4-6 month commitment.

Summer Fellowship Program

The 8 week Summer Fellowship is a concentrated version of the resident internships for those who cannot serve an entire semester. This program aims to inspire and equip future leaders to help in poverty alleviation. The 2012 Program will be run from June 4th to August 1st.

Skill sets preferred but not required:: Haitian Creole, experience working in construction, and those with previous overseas and/or Christian ministry experience.

Requirements: At least a rising college Junior, in good physical health, excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish, proven academic excellence (3.0 GPA or higher), support Esperanza’s mission and corporate identify, and an 8 week committment.
