Esperanza opens new office in Santiago! |

On Monday, February 11, 2008 Esperanza International inaugurated its ninth office in the Dominican Republic, and tenth office branch overall. This new branch is located in Santiago de los Caballeros, a city of roughly 2 million people—the second largest city behind the capital of Santo Domingo.

Located in the interior region of the island, Santiago offers Esperanza strategic positioning to better serve the people in the central and northern areas of the country. With so many people in the near vicinity of the city itself, the prospect of serving a largely underserved population, is now an excitingly wonderful reality.
Several local pastors and community leaders joined Esperanza to celebrate the opening of this office, and to give thanks for the opportunity to serve yet another area of this wonderful country. While pastors gave thanks and led us in prayer, Executive Country Director, Carlos Pimentel, shared Esperanza’s mission with guests and expressed thanks on behalf of the entire Esperanza team for the generosity, support, and love that we have already been welcomed with in Santiago.
Starting this very week a well-trained team of thee loan officers, led by veteran wonder woman herself, Helen Calcano (manager of San Pedro – our largest branch office), will begin making their first visits to communities. Within a month several lives will be changed forever by the extension of micro credit, savings, insurance, and the chance for a brighter future.
