About Us

Esperanza is a comprehensive approach to poverty alleviation. Through access to capital along with preventative healthcare and education, we equip entrepreneurs with the financial and holistic services needed to restore hope and dignity.

Over 40% of the population of the Dominican Republic lives below the poverty line of $4/day. With eight branch offices and a Central Service Offices, our local staff travels to the areas our Associates live and provide intimate knowledge of the solutions our clients need.

Guided by our faith in Jesus Christ, Esperanza’s collective heart is to serve the poorest of the poor and love our neighbor as our self. We commit to seeing an end to poverty and attending to the physical, personal, and spiritual transformation of the Associates we serve.

Our History

Founded in 1995, we’re proud of our 20+ history of serving Haitians and Dominicans. Through the vision of MLB Player Dave Valle, Esperanza’s courageous beginning provided a strong foundation upon which we are building for the future.

Where We Work

Esperanza works in the Dominican Republic, on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, sharing the island with Haiti to the west. Esperanza has nine offices in vulnerable communities throughout the Dominican Republic, the regions where our Associates work, live, and raise their families.

Who We Serve

Our heart is for the underserved. In practice, this means we serve primarily women and over half of our clients are Haitian immigrants. We believe that all people regardless of background are God’s children of equal worth, and we seek to love and support any who desire a restoration of dignity and hope.

Meet The Team

Esperanza is led by committed Christ-followers who are dedicated to poverty alleviation through economic empowerment. As one team we use our skills and gifts to serve together both in the field in the Dominican Republic and in our U.S. office.
