Experience the impact of Christ-centered microfinance by joining us in the Dominican Republic. We invite individuals and groups of all backgrounds to join us in bringing hope and opportunity to the vulnerable. Learn from our Associates, local staff and church leaders how holistic development empowers entrepreneurs to break the cycle of poverty and build a life marked by hope and peace.

Esperanza believes in vision trips, not mission trips.

Esperanza believes in vision trips, not mission trips. Inspired by the book When Helping Hurts
by Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert, our model is designed to support lasting change in
materially poor communities and in participants’ lives .

Visitors are offered the opportunity to walk humbly alongside our Associates and come face to
face with poverty as borrowers experience holistic transformation. Equipping individuals to
develop their own skills and gifts rather than creating unhealthy dependence by providing
temporary handouts upholds the dignity of our Associates and shapes our
hearts to be more like Christ.

The beauty of Esperanza is their Christ centered mission to empower people economically, personally, and spiritually. Last summer, I had the privilege to go on one of their vision trips with my church. That opportunity opened my eyes to the power of microfinance and they can empower the lives of people. I have a great deal of admiration for the Esperanza team and the work they do. Thank you all for an inspiring experience.

Getting involved with Esperanza both here in the United States as well as in the Dominican Republic has been a life altering path for me. Last summer, I was able to go to the Dominican with my church and witness first hand what this organization does. They are truly changing the world. I encourage anyone that even has a small burning in their heart to make a worldly difference to explore Esperanza; you will never understand how far small acts can go until you do!
